Faulty sata port on a WD 1TB Gold hard drive

Hi, we have a faulty sata port on a WD 1TB Gold hard drive. We are looking at replacing the PCB so re-use the hard drive as has some important data held within. If we replace the PCB and the new PCB does not work, is there any risk of data loss or corruption? I have read your article about replacing the BIOS chip on the PCB, but we have ordered exactly the same PCB as the one on the hard drive, so hoping this will be compatible and able to read the data? Please can you offer some advice and if we are at risk of losing any data in changing the PCB? Thanks. Matt
