Would you agree it’s the PCB control board that is the issue?

I have a Western Digital 4TB Blue (WD40EZRZ) hard drive that I use as an external hard drive for backup purposes (with a USB 2.0 to SATA cable) & store it at my parents.

About 2 weeks I hooked it up to my parent’s Windows 10 computer to add some data to it. It popped up in Windows explorer temporarily before disappearing.  I then managed to get it to pop up again, but then when I plugged in a USB stick to transfer from it disappeared and I could not get it to appear again.  I brought it home (wanting to blame Windows 10 as I had some issues with it at my parents before) and tried to connect it to a Windows 7 computer.  I could not get it to appear.  In the disconnect USB area it would sometimes show a USB device connected, but would never show up in Windows explorer.  I then tried connecting it to linux and saw it kept on resetting the interface.

All during these attempts I hear the hard drive spins as usual with no clicking sounds.

Note: About 3-4 weeks ago I did drop it about 2-3 feet, but checked and I did not see any damage.  The connectors are not bent or broken.

Would you agree it’s the PCB control board that is the issue?  Do you think changing it with one of your PCB 2060-800055-002 (for my Rev P1) board fix the issue?

Replacement the PCB will not solve the problem below.

    * The drive will power up normally (no ticking noises, errors etc) but will not be recognized by the computer

    * The drive will power up normally and be recognized correctly but will report a size of 0 bytes

    * The drive will power up but report SMART errors on boot

Those problem is caused by the HDD firmware corrupted.You can find a data recovery company help.
