1. I had recently an issue with a 7200.11 drive 320 GB in an HP desktop, which was no more seen at BIOS level. After consulting several people locally and going on several forums, I used the workaround proposed for solving the firmware issue identified on the Web (using a serial link and commands). It almost works, but it now seems that there is a issue between PCB and drive. As a consequence I am trying to use a new PCB for recovering the data on the disk.
Before buying it, my question is to know about the compatibility of PCBs, if I buy another (new or used) seagate disk drive for re-using the PCB. For instance, I am asking the following questions:
- is the PCB coming from a ST3320613AS (instead of 813AS) compatible with my drive?
- what are the criteria for assessing compatibility of a PCB with my drive?
*ref of the PCB printed on the board itself (100504364 REV B on my drive) for instance ?
*ref printed on the sticker (100504356 JC91202M2)?
*other?
- is there a need to do something else on the new PCB in order to make it work (I red on some forums about rom swap)?

It is basically a clone of my Ondoy’ed HDD which I aim to retrieve the data from – I have a contact already that might be able to help but needs a clone of my HDD with those specs as we will use the spare HDD for parts.
Please be considerate for your offers – I am willing to negotiate the price if you can guarantee you have what I am looking for.
2. Can you help me? I fried my logic board and want to try a replacement. Having a VERY hard time finding one with the correct firmware.

But not have succes

1. It’s from a Freeagent Go portable. I left PC on for overnight downloads with portable hdd. at morning the system was on standby mode and the HDD LED was off. there was a burning smell through the USB port on the casing. removed the casing and connected it to an external USB->SATA connector, the drive was spinning, but not at the full speed. It wasn’t getting detected in BIOS too. again connected it to the original casing, the LED’s were blinking on and off. now it’s not at all spinning up.
there are no visible damages on PCB. is it a PCB damage. how can I confirm it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. Right so I have just managed to get through to someone at WD themselves on the Telephone help line and they have told me that I can place an RMA advance return request…..
So basically they are sending me an exact matching drive so as I can attempt data recovery myself..he mentioned that I could open the drive up etc. and swap the board over ..They seemed really cool about this and the guy on the phone said it would arrive in less than 5 days….how good is that? If I do not return the old drive within 30 days of receipt then I get charged … in this case the cost is less than I payed for a new drive over here in the UK (and my drive was on sale) amazing.
Anyway I just thought that this might be useful for the other folks who have burned out drives.
So fingers crossed they will send me the right board drive with the right board.
Thanks for the technical help which I might still need if this board doesn’t turn out to be correct!

I accidentally plugged in the wrong adapter into my 1TB WD10EADS-00M2B0. I took it to a friend of mine which said it was completely fried and that I needed to get a new one. He said I needed that exact one and that sometimes firmware can effect it. I was wondering where I could get one. I need it before Nov. if
