Wrong adapter connected to the NAS. First click sounds then nothing. HDD not recognized by PC BIOS also.

Is it possible to buy the same HDD and change board myself?

Even the same HDDs producted at the same time period have different firmwares?

If your HDD can’t spin, you can swap PCB to try. https://www.hddzone.com/wd30efrx-wd-pcb-2060771945001-rev-a-p1-p-1030.html is your donor PCB.

When you get this PCB, you need to move your original PCB’s BIOS to the replacement PCB. The 8pins (4 pins on each sides) with 25P05VP、25P10VP、25F512、25F1024、25F1024AN、SST25VF512、SST25VF010, etc. are the BIOS.

Replacement the PCB will not solve the problem below.

    * The drive will power up normally (no ticking noises, errors etc) but will not be recognized by the computer

    * The drive will power up normally and be recognized correctly but will report a size of 0 bytes

    * The drive will power up but report SMART errors on boot
