Maxtor HDD PCBs Common Fault

We want to talk about Maxtor HDD PCB's one common fault about MOS here.

What is the MOS on the PCB? Please refer the below photo:

If your Maxtor PCB's MOS was burnt, you can swap PCB(Maxtor HDD PCB Swap Guide) to try. If the replacement Maxtor PCB's MOS also be burnt, 70% possibility the problem was caused by heads-stack problem; other 30% possibility was caused by Adapter, power supply, or misoperation.

In most cases, the MOS be burnt, the Motor Controller IC will also be burnt.
